There is Much Value in Youth
I am supposing you already knew that! The reason I title this blog "There Is Much Value In Youth", it took a 24 yr old woman to set this up for me. She's full of energy, life, wisdom for her 24 yrs etc....She's young and valuable to me and many others.
What started out as a joke with one of my boys, (James) has turned suddenly into something real. I told him I wished he could know what I now know so perhaps he would not have to make unnecessary mistakes as I had done growing into my 55 years. It can be quite painful to do stupid and irresponsible things in your youth as you have a flashback in your later years wishing you only had the foresight to do things differently.
Thus the name of my blog (which my future daughter in law gave me) WISDOM OF THE AGES.
I'm not sure what kind of time I can put into something like this but it is definitely something I feel strong about....sharing experiences, helping others and putting a bit of myself out there so those who matter most to me can really Know ME.
My first bit of advice would be to #1 Love like crazy. Love your parents, they are here only for a flash.
Second: remember! Don't forget what they did for you as you grew up. They trained you in the best way they knew how. The things they did for you were usually sacrificial. Remember they were the ones that taught you to do # 1-LOVE (baby steps to deeper love). It becomes hard when you are 55 and realize your children have forgotten how important you were to them. You grow up, get married, have kids, develop relationships, serve in churches ect.. changes all the time. The one thing that doesn't change is Your parents. They watch you change and grow and yes they are happy but please take steps back to REMEMBER!
The basic need to be needed grows as we age. Our culture de-values age for the most part. In the African culture the older you are the more celebrated and sought after wisdom, not so true here in America.
So to start out Love like crazy. Love your parents, they truely love you and they'll be gone too soon.
Remember who taught you to do the things you cling to now, where did that silly sense of humor come from? who spent endless hours taking care of you when you were teething, sick, hurt from people making silly remarks about you, troubled when teachers did not believe in you, took you and friends out for special days, sleepovers, flashlight tags, midnight runs to TP places you get the picture. Remember we were there for you and we had a blast and we are still there for you....waiting for a call. I love you mom :)
